Welcome to Seaboard Southern
NEWSFLASH!!!
At approx. 2.05am on Monday 26th July a fire completely destroyed the Seaboard Southern hut, along with two neighbouring huts. Absolutely everything was destroyed and the hut burnt to the ground! The club's permanent HO layout, it's portable HO layout, 59th Street, DCC equipment and members' locomotives and rolling stock were all lost. The Committee is meeting on Thursday evening to decide on the next steps to try to find new temporary premises and to try to save the club. We have had very generous offers and help from other model railroad clubs around the country, including the NMRA British Region BOD, and also a neighbouring club, the Crawley Model Railway Society, who have very kindly offered the use of their premises for our Committee Meeting tomorrow night. The Crawley Fire Service and Police Service are currently carrying out their investigations and hopefully will have answers for us soon. A great tragedy for a thriving and active club...but our members are keen to rally together to keep the club alive!! We will have further updates early next week after we have discussed what to do next.

Seaboard Southern, formed in 1998, caters for model railroaders living in South East England, mainly West and East Sussex, Surrey and Kent (plus a few from Berkshire and Hampshire) who like modelling North American railroads. We are also closely aligned to the NMRA British Region (National Model Railroad Association). To learn more about Seaboard Southern, the NMRA, or model railroading in general, please select a link from the menu bar on the left.
If you are interested in North American railroads, or even just model railroading in general you are very welcome to pay us a visit to see what we are all about and to see what we get up to on a typical Friday night! You will find us a very welcoming and friendly bunch!
